Practice Routines

Practice Routines– now that you have mastered the basic squash exercises here are a few more that require a little more skill:
1. Wall to wall- This is a great routine that can be done with one or two people.
Standing on the T facing the front wall, you hit the ball to the side wall on your
forehand. You let the ball come off the opposite side wall and you then hit the
ball back to the side wall with your backhand. You continue, trying to keep
the ball going as straight as possible.
2. Forehand wall to wall– This is a great routine that can be done with one or two
people. Standing on the T facing the front wall, you hit the ball to the side wall on
your forehand. You let the ball come off the opposite side wall and you then hit
the ball back to the same side wall again with your forehand. You continue, trying
to keep the ball going as straight as possible. Stand behind the ball.
3. Backhand wall to wall– This is a great routine that can be done with one or two
people. Standing on the T facing the front wall, you hit the ball to the side wall on
your backhand. You let the ball come off the opposite side wall and you then hit
the ball back to the same side wall again with your backhand. You continue,
trying to keep the ball going as straight as possible. Stand behind the ball.
4. Criss-cross- This is a one person routine. Standing on the T facing the front
wall. Right handers hit their forehand into the front left corner. The ball must hit
the front wall and then the side wall. The ball must then come back to the middle
of the court. They must then hit their backhand ball into the front right hand
corner. The ball must hit the front wall and then the side wall. Continue….
5. Volley Criss-cross- This is a one person routine. Standing on the T facing the
front wall. Right handers volley their forehand into the front left corner. The ball
must hit the front wall and then the side wall. The ball must then come back to the
middle of the court. They must then volley their backhand ball into the front right
hand corner. The ball must hit the front wall and then the side wall. Continue….
6. Ball in box– This is a one person routine. Stand just behind the service box and
hit the ball towards the front wall on your forehand. Try and get the get the ball to
bounce in the service box continuously.
7. Partner volley– This routine must be done with a partner. Your partner must
stand in the right service box and you must stand in the left service box. You
must now hit the ball cross-court towards the front wall, your partner must volley
the ball back cross-court and you must volley cross-court back to him.
